Power Grid Engineers PGE Oy Secures Contract to Deliver Detailed Wind Power Plant Grid Code Compliance Models for Infinity Power
Ylöjärvi, Finland- Power Grid Engineers PGE Oy, a leading consulting firm specializing in sophisticated mathematical and electrical system modelling has signed a contract to develop detailed grid code compliance models for Infinity Power, the largest pure-play renewable energy provider in Africa. Infinity Power currently operates a 1 300 MW renewable energy portfolio and aims to expand its capacity to 10 000 MW by 2030.
The project covers five independent wind power plants, located in South Africa, with a total capacity of 600 MW. The full-scale wind power plant models, built using PSCAD, will include turbines, inverters, their controllers, the internal power grid, and a fully functional power plant controller. The performance of these models will be validated against real recorded fault events to ensure compliance and accuracy.
“Ensuring the technical compliance of wind power plants is a top priority for both us and the transmission system operator, and we look forward to collaborate with PGE to achieve this goal.” Said Hein Naude – HV and BOP Specialist from Infinity Power.
